Welcome to ATU Library

How do I borrow? 

  • Go to the Information Desk or the Self Service point to borrow and return items.
  • You will need to bring your ATU ID card with you each time.

 

How long can I borrow items for?

  • Students can borrow 4 items at a time. 2 week loan (can maybe renewed for a further 2 weeks).
  • Book loans can be renewed online 
  • Theses, maps and some frequently used books are kept at the Information Desk and can be borrowed for 3 hours (Desk Reserve).

 

How do I renew my books on loan?

  • Renew your book loans online by logging into My Library Account
  • Renew your book loans in the library at the Information Desk (or at the Self Service point at the Dublin Road Library).
  • Or ring or email us and we'll happily renew your loans.

 

What happens if my books are overdue?

  • If books are not returned past the due date, library users will receive penalty points and user's library privileges maybe suspended.
  • Students with overdue items on their accounts will be blocked from accessing exam results online. Final year students will be blocked from graduating.

 

Reserving items that are out on loan

Items that are out on loan can be reserved on the library website or by completing a reservation request card at the Information Desk.

 

Borrowing items from other ATU Galway-Mayo campus libraries

Items that are held in other ATU libraries (Dublin Road, Wellpark Road. Mayo, or Connemara) can be borrowed. Reserve them on the library website or by completing a reservation request card at the Information Desk.

 

Document Supply Service

Items that are not held in our collections can be obtained by using our Document Supply Service. The cost for students is €4 to €8 per item. Loans from other IT Libraries are free of charge. Online requests can be made here
