Peopling the Irish Revolution

An Exhibition: 1913-1923

About the exhibition

Peopling the Irish Revolution 1913 - 1923 Exhibition

The Communications Office, Department of Heritage and Tourism and the Library joined together to organize this exhibition. We wanted to show the link from the students and staff of GMIT today to those who were connected to the revolutionary period of one hundred ago and to demonstrate that figures from this period of history were our grandparents and great-grandparents and that there is still a strong connection to them.

We asked the GMIT community to help us put this exhibition together. We asked students and staff for artifacts, photographs, manuscripts or other memorabilia connected to an ancestor who had been involved in the revolutionary period 1913 - 1923.

The exhibition was on display in the Library from 14th November to 22nd December 2016.

The following pages, named after the participating student or staff member, each has information on their links to a family member or memorabilia from the revolutionary period.
