GMIT Libraries: COVID-19 Updates

This guide covers library services for Sept 2021-May 2022

Borrowing Books

November 2021 UPDATE

The library is open and books can be borrowed in the normal way. However if you wish to avail of our click and collect service please do the following:

  • Search for the item you would like to borrow on
  • Click on Place Hold to login to your library account and reserve the item.
  • For fully online/distance education students or users isolating we will post the item out to you and include a pre-paid postal envelope for returns.

The library will continue to offer a Click & Collect service for print books for the academic year or users who do not wish to spend time in the building and who do not require study space. The collection point on the Dublin road will be directly inside the entrance door to the left of the porters desk. You must show your student ID card to the porter on duty before you take your books. To request a book please use the library catalogue at and place a hold or phone the library at 091742785 or alternatively please email the library at You will contacted with a date and time to collect your books.

Library users can now browse the books on the shelves and either check out the book at the self-issue or at the information desk. However, in order to browse users will still have to book a slot for contact tracing purposes and to stay within the maximum numbers permitted in the library at any one time. Please book a browsing slot at Book a Seat.

For fully remote students who will not be on campus you can request books via the library website and we will post them to you at your home address. You will not be charged for their return to the library once they do not exceed 20kg. The library will continue to post out books to fully online/distanced education students.

To find out what books are on your module reading list please click on keylinks on the library website. Refer to the Reading list libguide for help.
